A vast French prose romance of the 14th cent., in which the author seeks to link the legends of Alexander and Arthur. Alexander, after the conquest of India, is driven by a storm on the coast of England, and makes one of his followers (called Perceforest because he has killed a magician in an impenetrable forest) king of the land. Under the latter's grandson the Grail is brought to England.
