Quick Reference

Is a generic term to describe a range of techniques that people use to make sense of the world. The techniques are all types of short cut that allow us to more quickly gain an understanding of a person, event, or situation. However, because they are short cuts they also lead us to getting only a partial and possibly inaccurate impression, so consequently the perception a person gets is a biased one and the nature of this bias depends on the technique used and its particular effect on perception. The main techniques are contrast effect, halo effect, primacy effect, projection, recency bias, selective perception, and stereotyping.

Subjects: Human Resource Management.
