A method for outlining the bile ducts and pancreatic ducts with radiopaque dyes, which are introduced by a catheter inserted into the ducts from the surface of the skin (see also cholangiography). The procedure is often performed prior to insertion of a biliary drain or stent when this is not possible via ERCP in cases of obstructive jaundice.
