Quick Reference

Data, or sets of data, that demonstrate the process(es) by which a specific task has been conducted and the outcomes, e.g., the way a physician has conducted routinely required actions involved in patient care: taking a medical history, performing a routine physical examination and necessary ancillary investigations, and providing appropriate treatment. In public health, “process” performance indicators include immunization uptake rates, proportions of eligible populations covered by maternal and child care services, and smoking prevention programs. Notifications of vaccine-preventable diseases are an indicator of inadequate population coverage by immunization programs.
