A disturbance in a body's orbit that is oscillatory in nature, having a certain period and amplitude. Such perturbations can occur in all six elements of the orbit (see elements, orbital) and are usually termed long-term or short-term depending on whether the period is much larger than the body's orbital period, or of the same order as it.
