Muscle in the lateral compartment of the lower leg, lying deep to the peroneus longus. It has its origin on the distal fibula shaft and its insertion on the peroneal tendon, which runs behind the lateral malleolus to insert on the proximal fifth metatarsal. Its primary actions are plantar flexion and eversion.
