An Āḻvār poet-saint and brahmin priest at the temple of Śrīvilliputtūr in Tamil Nadu, whose compositions, the Tiruppallāṇṭu and the Tirumoḻi are included in the Nālāyirappirapantam. The thirteen stanzas of the Tiruppallāṇṭu are probably the most frequently recited Śrī Vaiṣṇava verses, since they are at the core of the tradition's ritual practice. Many of Periyāḻvār's poems are dedicated to Kṛṣṇa as a child and a youth. Āṇṭāḷ is said to have been his adopted daughter.
