personalized learning

Quick Reference

In personalized learning the curriculum and teaching approaches are adapted to meet the unique needs of every child, enabling them to achieve and participate at the highest level. This will involve a range of pedagogical approaches including the use of learning technologies, and should embrace close links between the school and the family. In recent years there has been a strong emphasis on raising standards in individual schools, and the personalized learning agenda moves this forward to focus on raising standards of achievement for individual pupils. Personalized learning should not be confused with individualized learning or differentiation, although it may contain elements of the two. See also individual learning plan; personalized curriculum.
