from 1142 Abp. of Tarentaise (Moûtiers, in Savoy). He had been a Cistercian monk, and he thoroughly reformed his diocese. He stood high in the confidence of the Popes and was commissioned to reconcile Prince Henry (later Henry II) of England and Louis VII of France. Feast day, 8 May.
