This is the tale of the mariner Wilkins, ship‐wrecked in the Antarctic region, who reaches a land where the inhabitants can fly. One of them, Youwarkee, falls outside his hut and he tends her and eventually marries her. The work was much admired by Coleridge, Shelley, Scott, and other writers of the Romantic period.
