Quick Reference

A radio interferometer with two aerials in which the signal from one antenna is periodically reversed in phase before being multiplied by the signal from the other antenna. The output is a square wave whose amplitude is proportional to the product of the two signals. As the source moves across the sky, interference fringes are produced in a similar way to those from a correlation receiver, except that any steady background emission is removed.
