An actor, one of the original Lord Chamberlain's Men (Shakespeare's company) from their formation in 1594; named among the list of the Principal Actors in the First Folio of Shakespeare's plays. His will, proven in 1605, is a source of information about the company. His bequests included ‘a thirty shillings piece in gold’ to Shakespeare.
