In 1802 a loculus was found in one of the catacombs, closed with three tiles on which were painted the letters LUMENA/PAX TE/CUM FI, which, when rearranged, read ‘Pax tecum Filumena’. The bones found in the tomb were taken to be those of a martyred Christian virgin, who was for a time widely venerated. Feast day, 11 Aug., suppressed in 1961.
