Quick Reference

A range of polycyclic compounds isolated from croton oil (from the seeds of Croton tigliumin), the commonest of which is phorbol myristoyl acetate (PMA). They are potent cocarcinogens or tumour promotors, acting as diacyl glycerol analogues to irreversibly activate protein kinase C.

Subjects: Chemistry.
