6‐phospho‐d‐gluconate; an intermediate in the Entner‐Doudoroff pathway and in the pentose phosphate pathway. It is a product of the combined action of glucose‐6‐phosphate dehydrogenase and 6‐phosphogluconolactonase, and is a substrate for phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (decarboxylating).
