Quick Reference

Small transmembrane proteins (FXYD domain-containing ion transport regulator, FXYD1, 92 aa) that are phosphorylated in response to insulin and adrenergic stimulation. Like phospholamban they interact with P-type ATPases and regulate ion transport in cardiac cells and other tissues. Phospholemman-like protein (FXYD3, 67 aa, mammary tumour 8-kDa protein) lacks the consensus phosphorylation site in the cytoplasmic domain and is overexpressed in many mammary tumours.
