Quick Reference

Architect of the Sala Terrena, a huge triplearched loggia on the Valdšstejn Palace, Prague (1624–7), which faces the Baroque garden designed by Pieroni and Nicolò Sebregondi (fl.1610–1651/2). This loggia (influenced by the work of Giulio Romano) cannot be matched in grandeur and sophistication by anything of contemporary date in Vienna. Pieroni also designed the Bohemian town of Jičin (from 1623) and numerous fortifications throughout the Habsburg lands.
