Quick Reference

Pikelet is a West Midlands dialect term for a small flat crumpet. It comes from Welsh bara pyglyd, ‘pitchy bread’ (possibly named from its colour, and conceivably a parallel term to pizza). In Australia and New Zealand it is used for a small drop scone.
