PINX1

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

One of the proteins (TRF1-interacting protein 1, 328 aa) involved in the shelterin complex that binds telomeric repeat binding factor 1 (TRF1); it has telomerase-inhibiting activity and is potentially a tumour suppressor. Overexpression of PINX1 causes shortening of telomeres; depletion has the opposite effect and increases tumorigenicity in animal model systems.
