planar cell polarity pathway

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

(PCP pathway)

A highly conserved signalling cascade that coordinates both epithelial and axonal morphogenic movements during development. Inhibition of PCP signalling disrupts endothelial cell growth, polarity, and migration, but this can be reversed through downstream activation of the pathway by expression of either Daam-1, Diversin, or Inversin. In Drosophila the important genes are frizzled (fz), van gogh (vang), strabismus (stbm), prickle (Pk), dishevelled (dsh), flamingo (fmi), and diego.
