Any region of the brain in which electrical stimulation is rewarding or in which implanted electrodes tend to elicit self-stimulation from experimental animals provided with levers with which they can stimulate the area. The most important pleasure centres are in areas of the hypothalamus and the limbic system, especially the septum pellucidum and the medial forebrain bundle (MFB). US pleasure center.
