Quick Reference

A protein (platelet, and leucocyte C kinase substrate, pleckstrin-1, 350 aa) that is phosphorylated by protein kinase C in platelets stimulated by agonists that cause phosphoinositide turnover. Pleckstrin-2 (353 aa) is similar but is not phosphorylated to the same extent and is bound to the cell membrane where its PH domains appear to contribute to the formation of lamellipodia. Pleckstrin homology domains (PH domains) are found in a number of proteins.
