A group of genes controlling pigmentation of chicken feathers. Pigment will not be produced unless the gene C is present. A second gene I, which inhibits pigment formation, is located on a different chromosome. The White Leghorn breed of chickens has the genotype IICC, whereas the White Plymouth Rock is iicc.
