The clinical syndrome of chronic lead poisoning with colicky abdominal pains, constipation, intellectual dullness, peripheral neuropathy, reticulocytosis, and, among women in the reproductive years, inability to conceive or a history of miscarriages. It is an occupational disease of lead workers, e.g., those exposed to batteries at recycling centers and workers with lead paints, and an environmental disease, e.g., of children and others exposed to flaking lead paint.
