An agency, usually at a state, municipal, or other large regional level, that is a clearinghouse for reporting cases of acute, subacute, and chronic poisoning, staffed by physicians trained in toxicology or by toxicologists who are available on call on a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week basis to provide detailed information and advice about emergency treatment, antidotes, aftercare, and prevention and control regimens, including public education.
