Described by Alfred Poland 1841 when he was an anatomy demonstrator at Guy’s hospital. Aetiology may be hypoplasia of the subclavian artery. Usually sporadic occasionally genetic. 1:30 000, Rt > lt. M > F, but more females want reconstruction.
