A virus which changes its form each time it infects a computer. This is achieved by changing the program code of the virus although the function of the code stays the same. This makes these viruses very difficult to detect by virus detection software which looks for viruses based on pattern matching against a known structure. These viruses are also known as self-mutating viruses.
