Spanish painter and graphic artist, born in Barcelona, where he was a founding member of the Dau al Set group in 1948. At this time his work was Surrealist in flavour, featuring a world of fantastic landscapes inhabited by monsters. In the 1960s his style became more abstract, although still retaining vague Surrealist overtones. Apart from paintings, he produced a large body of graphic work, including etchings and lithographs. From 1955 to 1962 he lived in Brazil.
