Quick Reference

The study of the distribution of inherited variation among a group of organisms of the same species. The potential for change depends on the sum total of alleles that are available to the organisms (the gene pool), and estimates of changes in allele frequency in a population give an indication of its response to a changing condition.

Subjects: Biological Sciences.
