An order of acrocarpous mosses which are usually small; the leaves may be pointed or rounded, and have a nerve that may extend beyond the tip of the leaf in a ‘hair point’. There is one family. Genera include Barbula, Pottia, and Tortula. They are found in a range of habitats: on walls, on the ground, on tree bark, etc.
