Is someone who practices human resource management or industrial relations, usually in their job but sometimes as a volunteer or activist. Examples of practitioner roles include management consultant, human resource manager, trainer, trade union full-time officer, and shop steward. Practitioner roles can be contrasted with those of academics and journalists who research, educate, and comment on the activities of practitioners but who do not themselves practice.
