US astronaut. By 2001, he had logged more than 932 hours in space on four space shuttle flights, including three docking missions with the Russian space station Mir (Atlantis, June 1995 and May 1997; Discovery, June 1998). He is currently deputy manager of the International Space Station Program at the Johnson Space Center. Precourt was selected as an astronaut in 1990, and later became chief of the Astronaut Corps.
