Point prevalence is a measure of a condition or disease in a population at a given point in time; it is calculated by dividing the number of persons identified with the disease or condition at a specific point of time by the size of the total population at the same point of time. Period prevalence is the representation of the extent of a disease or condition in a population during a specific period of time; it is calculated by dividing the number of persons identified with the disease or condition during a specific period of time by the size of the population during the same period of time.
