Juvenile primary lateral sclerosis, a progressive paralytic neurodegenerative disorder, can be caused by mutations in the gene encoding alsin and is an allelic disorder with juvenile amyotrophic lateral sclerosis-2 and infantile-onset ascending spastic paralysis. An adult form is not associated with mutations in alsin.
