1. Protein tyrosine phosphatases found in regenerating liver Prl-1, Prl-2, and Prl-3 (PTP4A1, PTP4A2, and PTP4A3, respectively). The gene encoding Prl-3 is induced by DNA-damaging stimuli in a p53-dependent manner and Prl-3 promotes tumour metastasis. Overproduction of Prl-3 in human fibrosarcoma cells initially activates Akt kinase, but as Prl-3 abundance increases with time, it inhibits Akt activity through a negative-feedback mechanism, leading to cell-cycle arrest.
2. See prolactin.
