The precursor polypeptide from which two biologically active peptides, adrenomedullin (AM) and proadrenomedullin N-terminal 20 peptide (PAMP) are produced by proteolytic cleavage. PAMP is hypotensive, angiogenic, and has some antimicrobial capability. The receptor is G-protein coupled.
