The basic properties of probability. As well as the addition law and the multiplication law, these comprise 0≤P(*A*)≤1 for every event *A*, and P(*ϕ*)=0 and P(*S*)=1, where *ϕ* and *S* represent the empty set and the sample space, respectively.
