Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A term occasionally used to describe studies of the way a service or system is functioning. It is the third element of the triad of health services research when this is considered under headings of structure, process, and outcome. For instance, in studying an outpatient hospital service, process research would focus on the way patients enter, interact with staff in component parts of the service, and emerge at the end of their experience, without necessarily considering outcomes.

Subjects: Public Health and Epidemiology.
