A politically influential coalition that advocates putting the rights of the fetus on an equal footing with the rights of the mother. Its members include devout Christians and members of other religious faiths, and a small, militant fringe who sometimes bomb clinics that perform abortions and provide family planning advice, and even maim or murder the physicians and nurses who staff them. It is opposed to the pro-choice movement.
