Quick Reference

Any nutrients that can, under appropriate conditions, serve as a source of radicals. Most of those that are considered to be antioxidants can also have pro-oxidant action, either forming radicals non-enzymically, or because their antioxidant action is due to the formation of stable radicals that survive long enough to penetrate deeper into tissues or plasma lipoproteins, perpetuating radical damage.
