Quick Reference

(PKIs)

Small, specific and potent heat-stable inhibitors of the catalytic subunit of cAMP-dependent protein kinases. There are several isoforms (PKIα,75 aa; PKIβ, PKIγ) all expressed in the brain. Some alternatively spliced forms of PKIβ are also inhibitory for cGMP-dependent kinase.
