Quick Reference

The delay in the response to the second of two closely spaced stimuli. Ball players often attempt to increase the PRP in their opponents by disguising a shot or ‘selling a dummy’ (i.e. feinting to go one way and then going another). According to the single channel hypothesis, the PRP is due to the inability of the brain to deal with two stimuli simultaneously.
