The partial decussation of the corticospinal tract in the medulla oblongata, just above its junction with the top of the spinal cord, where the fibres of pyramidal cells divide into three, with 80 per cent crossing the left-right midline of the body. [So called because it forms a pyramid-shaped cross-section of pyramidal cell axons]
