Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A protein (marenostrin, predicted 781 aa) that is found in mature granulocytes and is a member of a family of nuclear factors homologous to the Ro52 antigen and the RET finger protein. Both pyrin and cryopyrin contain an N-terminal domain, the pyrin domain (PyD) that is responsible for the binding interaction with a common adaptor protein, ASC. Pyrin affects IL1-β production through control of caspase-1 activation and is defective in familial Mediterranean fever.
