Family of soft-bodied, pubescent beetles, up to 17 mm long, which are often partly scarlet. The antennae are long, and filiform to pectinate. The beetles are found under bark or feeding at flowers. Larvae have an elongate, toughened body, the terminal segment with a pair of backward-pointing spines. The legs are well developed. There are 116 species.
