Prosperous Jewish tribe of Medina. Initially agreed to support Muhammad; later negotiated with the Quraysh against the Muslims during the siege of Medina in 627. As a consequence, the Muslims besieged them. Sad ibn Muadh, an ally of the Qurayza, ruled that their men should be killed and the women and children sold as slaves, with their property divided among Muslims.
