Term often used in the 1960s and 1970s to suggest some extreme of shape, structure, or (more usually) the Leftist political position of its creators. The notion was propounded largely by the Italian architectural journal Casabella. In reality Radical architecture was often drawn or collage presentation of projects by certain groups (e.g. Archizoom) questioning what constitutes architecture, usually involving assaults on architecture conceived as a formal language.
