Quick Reference

An obsolete term for a cosmic source of radio waves. It is now known that the vast majority of so-called ‘radio stars’ are galaxies and other non-stellar objects, and for them the term radio source is now used instead. However, some stars, such as novae and flare stars, do emit radio waves.
