## Quick Reference

Symbol *k*. The square root of the ratio of the moment of inertia of a rigid body about an axis to the body's mass, i.e. *k*^{2} = *I*/*m*, where *I* is the body's moment of inertia and *m* is its mass. If a rigid body has a moment of inertia *I* about an axis and mass *m* it behaves as if all its mass is rotating at a distance *k* from the axis.
