Swed. tenor. Studied Stockholm and Berlin. Opera début Stettin 1930 (Cavaradossi in Tosca). Sang opera in Frankfurt 1933–5, Dresden 1935–44. Created Apollo in Daphne, 1938. Sang at CG 1935–9 (début as Lohengrin) and 1948, NY Met 1945–8 (début as Lohengrin). Notable Parsifal, Walther (Die Meistersinger), and Radames (Aida).
